New Official Plan

The New Official Plan

The City of Niagara Falls is creating a new Official Plan - and we'd like to start with your input.

The Official Plan is a document that guides and shapes the future of a community by identifying where, and under what circumstances, specific types of land uses can be located.  It aims to focus new growth in a way that makes efficient use of land and infrastructure, creates attractive and livable communities with a variety of housing options, and protects the City's cultural and natural heritage and agricultural lands.

The City's current Official Plan was approved in 1993 and has been amended over 160 times.  It is time to refresh, update and create a new approach to the issues we face today and into the future.

A Special Meeting of Council was held on March 5, 2024 to gather early input early in the process, to help guide the vision for the New Official Plan and to identify our community priorities. A recording of this meeting can be viewed at: March 5, 2024 Meeting video

We look forward to hearing from you!
