Mayor’s 3rd Annual Community Charity BBQ | September 7, 2025 | Mayor Jim Diodati’s 3rd Annual Community Charity BBQ is happening on Sunday, September 7th, from 12pm to 4pm at the Serbian Orthodox Picnic Grounds, located on Montrose Road in Niagara Falls. The event is in support of the Niagara Health Foundation and the building of our new South Niagara Hospital. This exciting community event promises great food, fun activities, and an opportunity to give back to an important cause. Volunteers will assist with a variety of roles throughout the day and will play an important part in supporting healthcare in our community. | Niagara Falls Farmers' Market | Saturdays - May 17 to October 25 | Volunteers are needed to help setup and tear down at the Niagara Falls Farmers' Market on Saturdays between May 17 to October 25. The Market is located at the MacBain Community Centre, 7150 Montrose Road in Niagara Falls. Volunteers can work 1 shift, a few shifts or every week. Shifts are 6:15am to 1:30pm rain or shine. Volunteers must be 17 years of age or older and able to lift 40 to 50 lbs. on occasion. Other duties include assisting vendors and keeping track of attendance. Majority of the work takes place at the start and end of each shift. Currently, there is space for 1 more volunteer for each week during the market season. | Community Clean Sweep Days | Various | The Environmental Action Committee hosts two clean-up events each year, to allow residents to take part in helping to keep our City clean. Volunteers are provided with a safety vest/t-shirt, gloves and garbage/recycling bags. Areas to clean are: City boulevards, parks, trails and walkways. Each year MYAC establishes and implements an annual plan in order to provide a voice for youth and to offer fun opportunities. The MYAC team can often use the assistance and guidance of adults in the community to help them meet their goals not to mention the many opportunities for youth volunteers to help out at various events and collaborations with community partners like Project Share. Daily Community Clean-Up Program | Open - weather permitting | Do you have limited free time, but still want to give back to your community? Consider registering to conduct a community clean-up. This program allows residents to conduct clean-up activities on their chosen time when able. Volunteers are given complimentary gloves, safety vests and garbage bags prior to their event. Simply register online and a municipal staff will follow-up with your request during regular business hours. The program is free and available to all residents of Niagara Falls. Aquatics - Assistant Swim Instructors | Various - dependent on swim lesson schedule | Are you interested in becoming a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor and are waiting for your next course? We are seeking enthusiastic youth ages 13-15 to assist our swimming instructors during lessons. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and potentially progress towards teaching your own swimming lessons in the future. Volunteers must have completed at least their Bronze Star or Bronze Medallion certification to volunteer in the pool. As these positions are within the Older Adult programs (60+) all of our volunteers are also of the 60+ age demographic.
