Niagara Falls, ON, April 25, 2017 – The City of Niagara Falls is excited to announce the Opening Celebration for the Solar Neighbourhood Park Playground. The celebration will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at 6519 Jupiter Boulevard. Residents are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
The playground at Solar Neighbourhood Park was identified as one of the oldest playgrounds in the City’s park system. The playground had poor accessibility due to a sand play surface base and was recommended for a complete replacement.
The new playground includes an accessible play structure and play surface, additional swings, more slides and play equipment, a second basketball net for the existing court, and more park seating and picnic opportunities.
This playground opening is part of “Operation Awesome Playgrounds”, an initiative Mayor Jim Diodati announced at his State of the City Address in March. As part of this initiative, the City’s program to refresh play structures is being accelerated, with 10 parks being replaced in 2017. Residents are encouraged to sign up on the City’s online engagement site letstalk.niagarafalls.ca to learn more.
