Public Notice: Phragmites Spraying and Temporary Closure of Fernwood Park
The City of Niagara Falls will be conducting vegetation management at Fernwood Park, 9260 Hendershot Boulevard, to control the invasive species Phragmites australis (Common Reed).

Date of Spraying: September 16, 2025

Closure Dates: September 16/17, 2025

Location: Fernwood Park, Niagara Falls

Park Closure Notice:
To ensure public safety and the effectiveness of the treatment, Fernwood Park will be temporarily closed during the spraying operation. Access will be restricted until signage is removed and the area is deemed safe for public use.

Why This Is Important:
Phragmites is a fast-spreading invasive plant that threatens native ecosystems, reduces biodiversity, and obstructs recreational areas. This spraying is part of a broader ecological restoration effort.

Spraying Details:
- A licensed contractor will apply an approved herbicide under strict environmental guidelines.
- All necessary precautions will be taken to protect surrounding wildlife and water sources.
- Signage will be posted at all entrances and along affected areas.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to restore the natural beauty and health of Fernwood Park.
