NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Summer Trillium Awards, presented by Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc.
The Summer Trillium Awards encourage Niagara Falls property owners to enhance their curbside landscaping. This program fosters city-wide beautification efforts from all property owners through recognition and encouragement. Residents are challenged yearly to enhance their curbside appeal while utilizing basic horticultural and environmental considerations.
This year, 80 properties participated in the program, and most won either the Award of Excellence, Gold, Silver, or Bronze Trillium rating for their curbside landscaping.

About the Program
The Summer Trillium program is overseen by the Environmental Action Committee and knowledgeable members of the public in horticulture and landscape design. Volunteers assessed each participating property following a scoring criterion based on standard landscaping principles. Scoring criteria range from 0 to 100 points, assessed on six (6) categories:
- Principles of design
- Turf
- Quality of Maintenance & Plant Diversity
- Hardscaping Features
- Unique Features
- Environmental Issues

All Trillium-rated participants were invited to receive their award from members of City Council and Mayor Diodati at the Gale Centre Arena on September 10th. Complimentary finger foods and wine were served at the event, compliments of Ceremony Sponsors Kathy Tsiantoulas and Daniela Mitrovic, the Property Girls from Re/Max Niagara Realty Ltd.
The Environmental Action Committee
A volunteer committee appointed by the City Council. The Committee’s mandate is to encourage environmental responsibility, city-wide beautification, promote active transportation usage and civic pride through community action. The Committee advises the City Council on issues regarding its mandate.
