The Park in the City Committee hosts a great opportunity for residents of Niagara Falls to show their civic pride on Saturday, May 11. The 2019 Spring Community Clean Sweep event begins at 9 a.m. in the Mick & Angelo’s Kitchen + Bar parking lot and ends at noon with lunch served at the restaurant. Dozens of volunteers are once again expected to meet and help clear debris from City boulevards, parks and trails. Anyone interested in taking part is asked to register online at

To date, over 200 volunteers have already registered for the event with organizers encouraging more to come out and participate. The event has become a popular opportunity for local students looking to fulfill their community service hours and for local businesses looking for team building experiences that benefit the community.

The complimentary lunch will be provided by Daniela Mitrovic and Kathy Tsiantoulas aka The Property Girls (Re/Max Niagara Realty Ltd.) and the Park in the City Committee.

Walker Environmental Group and the Niagara Region also support the event and will provide volunteers with proper safety gear and other cleaning supplies and materials.

The event will proceed rain or shine, and volunteers dressing for the elements are reminded to leave any loose or valuable jewelry at home and wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes.

Maps will be provided indicating key areas in need of a little TLC, but participants are welcome to clean any public area of their choosing.  Volunteers will be reminded to work only on public property and avoid trespassing on private property.

Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  A maximum of four youths may be accompanied by one adult.  Any youths who wish to attend unaccompanied must provide a signed note of permission from their parent or guardian.
