TD TREE DAY EVENTS COMING TO NIAGARA FALLS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls is hosting a TD Tree Days tree planting event on Saturday, September 23, at Mewburn Road Recreational Area.

TD Tree Days provides residents the opportunity to volunteer to help build a healthier community by planting trees and shrubs in urban and rural greenspaces. On September 23, a total of 388 native trees and shrubs will be planted across Niagara Falls by volunteers. Residents can volunteer for the event by registering online at https://www.tdtreedays.com/en-ca/events/5252-mewburn-park.

On event day, staff from F45 Fitness will be conducting warm-up exercises in the morning, followed by a tree planting demonstration by members of the City’s Environmental Action Committee. Volunteers will then commence planting trees along the Laura Secord Commemorative Trail, located at Mewburn Road Recreation Area in Niagara Falls.

Why: The Environmental Action Committee is taking an active approach to help enhance urban woodlot areas within the City of Niagara Falls. Staff and volunteers annually seek funding to conduct tree-planting events.
