City of Niagara Falls accepting nominations for 2023 Summer Trillium Awards

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - Beginning Thursday, June 1, the City of Niagara Falls, in partnership with the Environmental Action Committee, is accepting nominations for the 2023 Summer Trillium Awards, presented by Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. 

The Trillium Awards program promotes and encourages community pride through the recognition of excellence in landscape design, maintenance and beautification across the City. Residents of Niagara Falls can nominate a property, including their own, until the Saturday, July 1 deadline at niagarafalls.ca/trillium.  

The Trillium Awards Sub-Committee, comprised of a panel of horticulture enthusiasts, will review nominations and award a Gold, Silver or Bronze rating based off of photo submissions. Scoring criteria ranges from 0-100 points, assessed across six (6) categories:
 

Principles of Design

  1. Turf
  2. Quality of Maintenance & Plant Diversity 
  3. Hardscaping Features
  4. Unique Features
  5. Environmental Issues  

In September, Trillium Award winners and participants will be invited to the 2023 Recognition of Excellence Ceremony.

About The Environmental Action Committee
The Environmental Action Committee (formerly the Park in the City Committee) is a volunteer committee appointed by City Council. The committee’s mandate is to promote and encourage environmental responsibility, city-wide beautification, active transportation usage, and civic pride through community action. The Committee advises City Council on issues regarding its mandate.
