Over 50 Entrants for Niagara Falls’ First Ever Spooky Awards

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - As the judges prepare to visit entrants’ homes in the first ever Spooky Awards competition, a new interactive mapping system that highlights every participating entry has been launched, encouraging residents to view all of the fun home Halloween decorations.
“We’re ecstatic with the number of applicants for the awards, especially considering it’s the first year. The new map we’ve launched will allow people to drive from home to home and witness the amazing decorations for themselves. Even though Halloween is a little different this year, we’re doing all we can to ensure that everybody still gets into the Halloween spirit. You could say that so far, it's been a 'howling' success,” said Mayor Jim Diodati.
The awards feature three spooky categories including: Best Effects, Judges Favourite and People’s Choice. Entrants are encouraged to post pictures and videos of their home decorations lit up at night to the City’s Facebook Event Page.
“The Spooky Awards facebook page has already seen several excited entrants share their amazing decorations. Best of all, there is no cost for people to enjoy the contest. Residents can simply use our new map and drive around to view all of the entries from their cars. One thing is for sure – this is going to be a great initiative for years to come,” added Councillor Chris Dabrowski.
People’s Choice voting begins October 29th  at 4:00pm and ends October 31st at 11:59pm. Fans can vote for their favourite display by visiting niagarafalls.ca/spookyawards. Award winners will be announced November 2.
