Annual Cemetery Spring Clean Up Day

On Saturday May 7, 2016, the Cemetery Services staff invites all cemetery users, visitors, family members and friends to join us for our Annual Spring Clean Up Day at Fairview Cemetery.

  • What:Cemetery Services staff will be on hand to assist families with the removal of overgrown trees/shrubs and vines, deliver fresh soil to plot gardens and grass seed to their cemetery plot.

Throughout spring and summer, cemetery staff will also be working with the public to remove by-law infractions including plastic and wire fences; sheppard hooks; oversized gardens; rose bushes and any other encumbrances that cause a potential safety hazard to the public and staff or impede staff from their daily work activities.

Cemetery Services staff would like to remind cemetery users that there are restrictions concerning the size of flower beds, acceptable plant material and lot decorations, including the use and material of borders. These restrictions are outlined in By Law 2016-24, a copy of which can be obtained at Fairview
Cemetery. To avoid frustration, families are invited to discuss their garden plans with cemetery staff, prior to digging.

  • Where: Fairview Cemetery, 4501 Stanley Avenue (corner of Stanley Avenue & Morrison Street)

  • When: Saturday May 7, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m
