NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The Park in the City Committee hosts their Annual Arbour Day tree planting event.
WHAT: We're planting 60 native variety trees in celebration of Arbour Day following a tree planting demonstration by The Park in the City Committee.
WHERE: Chippawa Lions Park, 3970 Welland St, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 6Z9
WHEN: Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM
WHO: Park in the City Committee, along with partners from NPEI, Rotary Club of Niagara Falls Sunrise, Niagara Casinos, Chippawa Lions Club, local students and volunteers.
WHY: We're restoring part of Chippawa's urban forest that was devastated by the Emerald Ash Borer and promoting tree planting throughout the community to enhance Niagara's urban canopy in general. Demonstrating proper planting techniques to new and inexperienced volunteers helps ensure the investments made will thrive and continue to inspire future planting initiatives. Chippawa Lions Park is also a popular community space and was recently updated as part of the City's Operation Awesome Playgrounds initiative. The natural beauty and shade provided by these trees will further enhance the total park experience for generations to come.
