NIAGARA FALLS, ON -  The City of Niagara Falls proudly announces the honourary street naming of a section of Queen Street in memory of the late musician Rick Rose. The unveiling ceremony will take place on June 7, 2025, at 6:30 pm outside Taps Brewhouse, located at 4680 Queen Street, between Buckley Avenue and St. Lawrence Avenue.

Rick Rose, who sadly passed away on July 14, 2024, at the age of 64, after a battle with cancer, was a cherished figure in the music industry for over 40 years. His remarkable journey included fronting successful bands such as Lennex, Perfect Affair, and the Rick Rose Band, and his work resonates deeply within the Niagara Falls community.

City Council approved the decision to honour Rick Rose with this street naming during a meeting on December 10, 2024. The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Diodati and the family of Rick Rose, who will join to unveil the commemorative street sign.

Rick's contributions to music extended far beyond performing. He toured internationally, shared his passion for music with countless fans, and dedicated the latter part of his life to educating young musicians through the Niagara Institute of Music and Arts (NIOMA).

Rick's impressive career included collaborations with notable artists like Billy Ray Cyrus, Three Dog Night, and Barbara Mandrell and songwriting accolades for various projects, including the theme song for the 1989 film "Rude Awakening."

The Rick Rose Music Foundation continues his legacy by providing resources and scholarships for aspiring musicians in the community.

We invite the community to join us in celebrating Rick Rose's life, legacy, and contributions to music at this special event.
