Celebrate Seniors Month in Niagara Falls with free events and activities

NIAGARA FALLS, ON -  As June's Seniors Month approaches, the City of Niagara Falls is gearing up to honour and celebrate the vibrant community of older adults with a series of engaging free events and activities. Organized by the Seniors Advisory Committee (SAC), this month-long celebration aims to enrich the lives of seniors while fostering community connections and promoting active lifestyles.

Throughout June, seniors are invited to participate in a diverse range of free events, presentations, and activities across the city. From an educational speaker forum to fitness classes, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Key highlights of Seniors Month include:

  • Seniors Flag Raising: Together with the City's Senior Advisory Committee, we will proudly raise a flag at City Hall on Thursday, June 5 at 11:00 am to mark Seniors Month and honour the invaluable contributions seniors have made and continue to make in our communities. 
  • Seniors Active Living Expo: Join us on Tuesday, June 10, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at the MacBain Community Centre, for the free Seniors Active Living Expo! Explore wellness resources, expert advice, and giveaways tailored for active seniors. 
  • Free Speaker Forum: At the Lightning Talks Speaker Forum, on Tuesday, June 18, from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, listen to 20-minute talks at the MacBain Community Centre. Learn about topics such as Downsizing, the Energy Affordability Program, Fall Prevention, Hearing, and more! 
  • Fitness and wellness classes: Stay active and energized with complimentary Zumba classes at Oakes Park and Tai Chi and Line Dancing sessions at St Antoine's Hall.
  • Cultural and recreational offerings: Take advantage of 50% off admission at all Niagara Parks attractions.
