The City of Niagara Falls uses a pavement information system to determine which streets will be capital improvements in any given year. Pavement conditions, pavement age, traffic volumes, timely maintenance and work are all monitored and ultimately influence the timing and need for road rehabilitation projects.
2024 Budget Year will see 24.6 km of roads rehabilitated / reconstructed through the capital programs including road reconstruction, resurfacing, overlay and restoration programs. That includes 14.4 km of Urban Roads reconstructed and / or resurfaced, and 10.2 km of Rural Roads surface treated. Additionally, 1.3 km of sidewalks and curbs will be replaced.
The streets selected for road improvements have been listed below. The work on each street will take about six to eight weeks from start to finish. Construction will take place in stages and there may be delays between each stage.
