Public Skating and Ice Schedule

Enjoy fun on the ice!  Skating is a great way to stay active and spend time with family and friends.  Check the schedule for public skating times and drop-in programs for all ages.


Skating fees

Please pay at the customer service desk before you skate. You must bring your own skates because we do not rent them.

We accept cash, credit cards and debit payments. HST is included in the pricing.

Public skating admission fees

  • Children and students (15 years and under): $3
  • Adults (16 years and over): $4
  • Seniors (60 years and over): $3
  • Family pass (2 adults, 3 children): $10

Skating and hockey programs at the Gale Centre: 

  • Tiny tots skating: $3
  • Pay as you play 18+: $5
  • Pay as you play (all senior programs): $3
  • Youth stick and puck: $5 for parent and child, $2 per extra child
  • Adult stick and puck: $5

  • Wednesdays: 10:30 am to 12 pm (Wednesday, January 7 from 10 am to 11:30 am)
  • Thursdays: 12:30 pm to 2 pm
  • Note: Skating aids are allowed. Do not carry children while skating
  • Not available on: December 11, 17, 24, 25/January 1, 8/February 19/March 25, 26

Adult and senior skating schedule (Gale)

  • Mondays: 12 pm to 1:30 pm
  • Tuesdays: 9 am to 10:30 am (Tuesday, January 6 from 8:45 am to 10:15 am)
  • Wednesdays: 9 am to 10:30 am (Wednesday, January 7 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm)
  • Thursdays: 12:15 pm to 1:45 pm
  • Not available on: December 11, 24, 25, 29/January 1, 8, 26, 27/February 16, 19/March 10, 11, 16, 17, 25, 26/April 6, 9, 23

Skating rules

Skate at your own risk! The facility is not responsible for accidents, lost, or stolen items.

  • Skating aids are allowed (except for Saturday evening sessions), but chairs, sleds, pylons, hockey sticks, pucks and other obstructions are NOT permitted on the ice surface
  • Food and drinks are NOT permitted on the ice surface or the players' bench
  • No horseplay. Games such as tag or racing, as well as backwards skating, figure skating maneuvers or erratic skating are NOT permitted 
  • Refrain from carrying children
  • No personal instruction during public skates 
  • Please skate forward at a sensible speed, adhere to the directions of skate patrollers and/or arena staff members 
  • Children under the age of seven must be accompanied by a responsible person 16 years or older
  • Report any accidents or injuries to skate patrollers or arena staff
  • The City of Niagara Falls recommends everyone wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet
  • No swearing or inappropriate behaviour. Visit the RZone page to report an incident or view the policy
  • All participants must wear skates on the ice
  • Smoking, alcohol, illegal substances, or anyone under the influence is not allowed

Drop-in: Stick and puck schedule (Gale)

Youth Stick and Puck (ages 15 & under)

  • Wednesdays: 4 pm to 5 pm
  • Fridays: 3:45 pm to 5 pm
  • Not available on: December 12, 24, 26, 31/January 9, 16/February 6, 20, 27/March 6, 18, 20, 25, 27/April 3
  • Maximum 30 participants

Adult Stick and Puck (ages 16+)

  • Wednesdays: 2 pm to 3:30 pm
  • Thursdays: 9 am to 10:30 am
  • Not available on: December 11, 24, 25, 31/January 1/February 19/March 18, 19, 25, 26/April 9, 23
  • Maximum 30 participants

Stick and Puck rules

  • Helmets are mandatory
  • A parent (18+) must be on the ice with their child and supervise them
  • No slap shots
  • Be mindful of others when shooting the puck
  • Beginner skaters at one end of the rink; advanced skaters at the other
  • No organized games or practices
  • No scrimmaging

  • Organized and monitored scrimmage hockey.  Groups based on skill level

Pay as you play (ages 70+)

  • Tuesdays: 1 pm to 3 pm
  • Thursdays: 12:45 pm to 2 pm
  • Not available on: December 11, 25/January 1, 6, 8, 27/February 19/March 17, 26
  • Organized and monitored scrimmage hockey

Pay as you play rules

  • Full equipment is required, including helmets and a light and dark jersey
  • No checking or fighting
  • Goalies skate for free
