Niagara Falls’ First Ever Spooky Awards Winners Announced

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls Spooky Awards saw more than 50 entries in this first-ever Halloween home decorating competition! Homes won in three different categories including: Best Effects, Judges’ Favourite and People’s Choice Award.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the number of applicants we received for a first-year event, as well as the passion and effort that homeowners put into their decorations.  It was difficult for judges, residents and online voters to pick their favourites, as there were so many great home decorations to choose from.  Everyone really got into the Halloween spirit and made the best of this unique year,” said Mayor Jim Diodati.

Residents were encouraged to follow an interactive map on the City’s website and drive around the City to witness the bewitching decorations first-hand. The City’s website received thousands of views, and the online voting process for the People’s Choice Award drew a large response as well.

“The City’s Facebook page and dedicated Spooky Awards web page received more than 25,000 engagements, interactions and responses throughout the competition with over 1,300 views and downloads of the Spooky Map. We couldn’t be more pleased with the spook-tacular response from our community.  There are already discussions about ways we can continue to grow next year’s competition,” added Councillor Chris Dabrowski.
