Niagara Falls, ON, October 10, 2017 – The Westlane Community Garden Harvest Fest that was scheduled for Wednesday, October 11, 2017 is cancelled due to weather. The project partners will be
coordinating a spring plant and seed sale to celebrate the garden. The event will be announced later in 2018.
In the spring of 2017, The City of Niagara Falls in partnership with DSBN, Project SHARE and Links for Greener Learning coordinated a project that included the construction of 40 accessible community garden beds, the installation of 20 fruit tree and thousands of pollinator wild flowers at Westlane Secondary School in Niagara Falls. The project is made possible through monies from the Healthy Kids Community Challenge Niagara, TD Friends of the Environment and DSBN.
Residents can now start to register to reserve a garden plot of their own for the 2018 growing season. Registration is conducted through Links for Greener Learning. Project SHARE will also be conducting
healthy eating cooking seminars and are available to visit other sites to deliver cooking programming. For those interested in having the organization conduct a seminar, please contact Project SHARE directly. Available cooking seminars are available for viewing online at www.projectshare.ca.
