Partial Eclipse Guidelines: Monday, August 21, 2017

The August 21 Solar Eclipse will be an amazing experience for all who see it.

 The following precautions should be observed during an eclipse:

  • Never look at the sun directly
  • Never look at the sun through sun glasses, binoculars, telescopes, cameras, colour glass or plastic or reflective objects like mirrors.
  • Purchase ISO or CE approved eclipse viewers/glasses through a reputable online supplier, use a pinhole projector or view the eclipse online.
  • Plan outside work activities so as to avoid the possibility of viewing the sun unintentionally
  • Close blinds and other window coverings
  • Keep children indoors

City Pool Hours: Please note, that due to the impending Eclipse on Monday, August 21st, the City feels that this will be a hazard to the public if swimming without the proper eye protection.

Therefore the opening times of City pools on Monday, August 21st will be:

  • 10:00am – 12:00pm and;
  • 4:30pm – 8:00pm
