NIAGARA FALLS, ON -  The City of Niagara Falls invites media representatives to the launch of “Yarn Bomb: Crafting the New Exchange,” a colourful community art installation consisting of knitted and crocheted yarn squares that transform everyday spaces into vibrant expressions of creativity and connection.

Niagara Falls Culture and local textile artist Joanne Ring, who collaborated with crafters across the Niagara Region, have transformed the Exchange campus with hand-crafted yarn installations. Highlights include Historic Drummondville Square, Queen Victoria Fountain, and the stairs leading to the Niagara Falls History Museum, which are adorned in imaginative fibre art. A permanent yarn bomb is installed along the interior hallway of The Exchange to the second-floor art studios and galleries.

“Yarn Bomb: Crafting the New Exchange is a community art initiative where we brought textile arts, traditionally done alone or in small groups, out into the public sphere,” said Ring.

The project showcases collaborative efforts with community groups such as the Women Over 50 Folk Arts 50+ program, FM Brock Administration, and over 30 other community members who donated crochet work.

The Yarn Bomb celebrates the creation of the Niagara Falls Exchange cultural hub while fostering inclusivity, creativity, and community pride.

Media are invited to attend for interviews, photo and video opportunities, and to experience the installations first-hand.
