Pickleball

Pickleball is a growing sport that is played with a paddle and plastic ball on a court that is the same size as a badminton court. It’s good exercise and lots of fun. The City has added pickleball lines to existing tennis courts in several locations in order to provide an opportunity for casual play.

NEW! 2024 City of Niagara Falls Pickleball Tournament

Registration is now closed for the City's first-ever FUN community pickleball tournament, which will be held on Saturday, July 27, inside the Gale Centre Arena. The tournament aims to promote pickleball to both new and experienced players in Niagara Falls!

UPDATE schedule has been released and sent to all registered participants.

Tournament Details

  • Adult tournament (no specific age categories)
  • Round Robin Play (guaranteed 3 games) plus qualifying knock-out games.
  • Game score is up to 11 points, with a minimum 1 point victory.
  • 20 minute games max or until 11 points is reached by the winner.
  • Self-governed games.
  • Complimentary practice round (rotation format play) on Friday, June 26, from 6 - 10 pm, at the Gale Centre Arena.
  • Entry fee $20 per person per category entered.

Categories with skill level values:

  • Advanced Women's Doubles (4.0 +)
  • Advanced Men's Doubles (4.0 +)
  • Advanced Mixed Doubles (4.0 +)
  • Competitive Women's Doubles (3.5 - 3.99)
  • Competitive Men's Doubles (3.5 - 3.99)
  • Competitive Mixed Doubles (3.5 - 3.99)
  • Intermediate Women's Doubles (3 - 3.49)
  • Intermediate Men's Doubles (3 - 3.49)
  • Intermediate Mixed Doubles (3 - 3.49)
  • Recreational Women's Doubles (2.99 or less)
  • Recreational Men's Doubles (2.99 or less)

Registration Information

Registration is available online, or in person at the MacBain Community Centre (7150 Montrose Road.)

To register online, you will need to create an account with the City through the Activenet portal. Once you have created an account, go into the Activities section and scroll down to select the appropriate Pickleball tournament category that you and your partner want to compete in.  Note: When registering for the activity, you will be registering yourself and your partner together, including making payment for your team. Please ensure to have your partner's contact information available when registering.

Tournament Schedule

The tournament schedule will be posted on this webpage after July 23 (close of registration) and on-site at the Gale Centre Arena on Friday, July 26 (during the practice round). The tentative start of the tournament will be 9:00 am with men's & women's advanced play. Each category session will be allotted 1.5 hours of play (est.).  Categories may be eliminated if registration limits are not met. Full refunds to participants will be paid if categories are eliminated.

Tennis and pickleball are available in the dome at John N. Allan Park. There is no cost to use the courts!

Courts must be booked in advance. Court times are available between 6 am and 10 pm.

Certified Instructor Kathy Carter. To register, email Kathy or call 905-933-1406. For summer lessons, please register before July 1.  Late registration is available depending on availability. Payments methods: cash, e-transfer or cheque. Alternative arrangements available by request.

Youth (5-17)

$60 per week (Monday to Thursday) or $200 for 4 weeks (per child)

Includes use of equipment (racquets and balls) and admission to Fun Day at John N Allen Park (date TBD)

Beginners: ages 5 to 7, Intermediate: ages 8-11, Rallier: ages 11-14 & 11-17 (depending on ability)
