History

In 1994, the then Recreation Commission established “A Locally Initiated Volunteer Endowment Fund”, the A.L.I.V.E. Fund, after hosting a successful golf tournament as a fundraiser. The fund was established to assist people with disabilities requiring financial assistance to participate in community recreation activities.

Since that time, the fund was renamed the Activity Subsidy Fund and has expanded to include children and adults of all abilities. The Committee continues to allocate limited subsidies to individuals requiring financial assistance to participate in community recreation activities. Funding requests are considered for a variety of recreation activities to assist with the registration and equipment costs.

Requests to the fund have grown in the last few years and the need continues to grow. Over the years, the Committee has hosted a variety of events to continue to raise funds and now THIRTY years since the Activity Subsidy Fund was launched, the committee has decided to bring back a golf tournament!
