How to apply to be a member of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee

MYAC is a great way to get involved and to represent your peers within the community of Niagara Falls.


Expectations

Each committee member is required to attend all regular meetings and join at least one sub-committee (up to a maximum of three). The MYAC meetings run on the first Wednesday of every month, and the sub-committees meet bi-weekly (minimum). This time commitment is mandatory for all MYAC members to make a true difference in the Niagara Falls community.

The 2025-2026 mandatory leadership training

Dates:

  • Saturday, October 4, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at City Hall (4310 Queen Street)
  • Wednesday, October 8 and 22, 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm at MacBain Community Centre (7150 Montrose Road)

The 2025-2026 regular meeting dates are scheduled as follows:

  • November 5, 2025
  • December 3, 2025
  • January 7, 2026
  • February 4, 2026
  • March 4, 2026
  • April 1, 2026
  • May 6, 2026
  • June 3, 2026

Applications

All applicants, including returning members, must complete an application by the deadline of September 19, 2025. Applicants must be a resident of Niagara Falls enrolled in High School (grade 9-12B). Applications will be shared with the applicable high school after the application deadline for selection. Applications from students who reside in Niagara Falls but attend school outside of the city will be reviewed internally.

Please note: The application requires the following information:

  • Contact information
  • Your interests/hobbies and any applicable skills that might apply to your participation as a member of MYAC and/or attach your detailed resume
  • Short essay (max. 500 words), stating why you should be selected as a Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Member. Please include any ideas that you would like to implement if selected
  • Letter of recommendation
