Environmental Action Committee

Mandate

The Committee’s mandate is to encourage environmental responsibility, city wide beautification, promote recreation and active transportation usage and civic pride through community action.  The Committee advises City Council on issues regarding its mandate.

Vision

It is the vision of the Committee to achieve a clean and safe environment and to encourage stewardship of natural resources in terms of conservation, recycling and planning. The Committee also has a focus to enhance the growth of the urban forest and the usage of trails and bikeways.

The Environmental Action Committee is an appointed Committee of City Council that meets to discuss issues that fit within their mandate. The Committee is made up of   community volunteers residing in the City of Niagara Falls and two City Councillors. Residents apply for membership every four years.  The Committee is administered by a City Staff Liaison. Committee Member Functions

The Environmental Action Committee is an advisory committee that is made up of various local residents who contribute to the annually outlined events and programs initiated and directed by the committee with the assistance of a City Staff Liaison. Some of the primary tasks include (but not limited to) are as follows:

  • Attend and contribute to committee meetings.
  • Help develop and implement various events and programs.
  • Attend and participate at committee functions.
  • Provide input on various topics relating to the committee's mandate.

Donate to the Environmental Action Committee

The Committee conducts various tree and pollinator plantings each year to help enhance and foster a greener environment throughout the City of Niagara Falls.  The Committee will accept online monetary donations or in-kind donation to help them with their initiatives.
