National Drowning Prevention Week
The Lifesaving Society designates the third week in July (July 20 to 26, 2025) as National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW) to focus community and media attention on the drowning problem and drowning prevention.
This summer, prioritize water safety and learn how to stay safe in and around water!
Join us for water safety tips and activities throughout the week.
Monday, July 21
Prince Charles Pool, 6320 Arad Street
The Drowning Problem – come participate in a fun Water Safety Rule Relay to test your drowning prevention knowledge
Time: 1 pm to 7 pm
Tuesday, July 22
Niagara Falls Lions Club Pool, 4981 Drummond Road
Supervise Children: Tips and Activities to ensure that you are supervising your child in aquatic settings.
Time: 1 pm to 5 pm
Wednesday, July 23
F.H. Leslie Pool, 5250 Valley Way
Swim to Survive Program: Lifeguards will be teaching swimmers how to be safe in the water, including how to roll in the water, tread water, and swim. Please pre-register at F.H. Leslie Pool by stopping at the front counter or calling 905-356-6217. (Note F.H. Leslie pool will be closed from 1 pm to 2 pm and 6 pm to 7 pm on this date)
Time: Session 1 – 1 pm to 2 pm, Session 2 – 6 pm to 7 pm
Thursday, July 24

Open Water Safety: What does water safety mean? Spot the danger scavenger hunt. During the day, lifeguards will play musical buddies and perform buddy checks for all swimmers.

Friday, July 25
From 10 pm to 10:15 pm, the Falls will be lit in blue in honour of World Drowning Prevention Day.
