Seawaves Development Services Inc. has been retained by the City of Niagara Falls for the Main Street (Chippawa) Road Reconstruction (Sodom Road to Willoughby Drive) as part of the Contract #2023-519-20. This project will include new sanitary and storm sewers, full depth road reconstruction, new sidewalks, bicycle lanes, driveways, curbs, and boulevards. Construction is expected to begin on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 and planned be completed in the following stages along Main Street Chippawa:
Stage 1 Willoughby Drive to Dock Street; June 2023 to August 2023
Stage 2 Dock Street to Oliver Street; August 2023 to December 2023
Stage 3 Sodom Road to Greenwood Street; Spring 2024
Stage 4 Greenwood Street to Oliver Street; Completed by August 2024
Due to the scope of the work involved, the southwest bound lane of Main Street Chippawa will be closed to through traffic at Willoughby Drive for the duration of the Stage 1 construction work, tentatively starting June 21, 2023. All business will remain open and local access will be available via the northeast bound lane of Main Street Chippawa at Dock Street. Work on Main Street Chippawa between Dock Street and Willoughby Drive will be limited to one direction of traffic only until Stage 1 construction is completed. The detour route will be Willoughby Drive to Welland Street to Dock Street, as per the attached Traffic Control Plan.
Further closures and notices of closure will be anticipated for the remaining stages of construction with every effort to advance the access at the earliest convenience. Notification will be locally posted one week in advance of the closures and detours will be posted locally.
