Early tax billing & pre-authorized payment updates due to potential postal strike

Early Property Tax Billing graphic

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - In preparation for a potential postal strike scheduled for May 22, 2025, the City of Niagara Falls is implementing changes to the 2025 property tax billing timeline to ensure that residents receive their bills on time.

To accommodate this, property tax bills will be mailed on Friday, May 9, 2025, one month earlier than usual. Please note that the due dates for tax installments of June 30, 2025, and September 30, 2025, will remain unchanged.

Residents should be aware of the following:

  • If your account is in arrears and you make a payment in June, the June penalty will not be reflected on the tax bill received in May, as those penalties were not charged at the time of mailing. If you need an up-to-date balance, please contact the tax department at 905-356-7521 ext. 4400 or [email protected].
  • For those enrolled in the Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) program, a notification was mailed on April 25, 2025, outlining the new monthly payment amount beginning May 16, 2025. This recalculation date is one month earlier than usual.

If residents have any questions or need further clarification, they are encouraged to contact the tax department at [email protected] or by calling 905-356-7521 ext 4400.
