Nominations open June 1st for the 2024 Niagara Falls Summer Trillium Awards

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - Do you, or someone you know, have an outstanding front yard landscape? There is an award for that! The Summer Trillium Awards, presented by Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc., encourages residents to improve their curbside landscaping. This program promotes city-wide beautification efforts from all property owners through recognition and encouragement. Residents are challenged to enhance their curbside appeal yearly while considering horticultural and environmental factors. They are encouraged, through cooperation, to achieve a level of excellence in developing and maintaining their properties.

Scoring criteria range from 0-100 points assessed across six categories:
1. Principles of design
2. Turf
3. Quality of Maintenance & Plant Diversity
4. Hardscaping Features
5. Unique Features
6. Environmental Issues

The annual beautification program is open to all property owners within the City of Niagara Falls, and participation is free! You can nominate your property or someone else's (with their permission) to be assessed by horticultural enthusiasts aiming for a bronze, silver, or gold trillium rating. The Trillium Program Sub-Committee will review photos of the property's curbside landscapes to determine its level of maintenance.

Nominations open on June 1, and the submission deadline is July 1. More information about the program can be found at niagarafalls.ca/trillium
