Location
This year's Art Exhibition will take place at the Exchange in the Atrium Gallery, Arts building, 5943 Sylvia Place, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 1S9.
An exhibition of all artworks will be open to the public beginning September 10th during regular Exchange hours. There is no fee to enter.
Awards Presentation
The Awards ceremony will be held at the Exchange Market Hall, on Friday September 27th, 7-9pm. 5943 Sylvia Place. Niagara Falls, ON. L2G 1S9
Votes for People’s Choice will be placed onsite, digitally only. People's Choice voting closes Sunday Sept 22, 4pm.
A cash award will be given for the artworks selected as:
- Best in Show
- Mayor’s Selection
- People’s Choice Award.
Artwork may be presented in any medium: painting, drawing, photography, fibre or digital art. Sculpture is not accepted at this time.
Terms and Conditions of Entry
- There is no fee to enter.
- The competition is open to all Niagara Falls residents 18+.
- Each artist may submit one work of art to the Art Exhibition.
- Artwork must be original and not previously entered into the Niagara Falls Art Exhibition.
- Artwork must be delivered to Mahtay Cafe in the Exchange, Sept 7 between 10am-3pm. No artwork will be accepted before or after this time.
- Winner’s artwork may be requested to be on display at City Hall for the month of October.
- The City of Niagara Falls assures that reasonable care will be taken in the handling of all artworks but does not accept responsibility for loss or damage.
- Artists to allow Art Exhibition organizers the use of artwork imagery for social media and/or promotional purposes for the Niagara Falls Art Exhibition only.
- Winners’ to provide Art Exhibition organizers permission to have their names and photos published.
How to Enter
- Must fill out an entry form including one image of your work HERE.
- Artwork must be ready to hang with a secure, tight wire to hang across the back. Hooks are not sufficient. Attach the wire straight across the back, 1/3 of the way down the artwork, without slack.
- Artwork must be no larger than 36” x 36”.
- Artwork must be labeled clearly on the back or underside with the artist’s name, age, and phone number. All works will also be labeled at intake.
- Artwork may be presented in any medium, except sculpture: painting, drawing, photography, fibre or digital art. Sculpture will not be accepted.
- No consumable materials will be used in the manufacture of any artwork.
- Artwork to be delivered to the Mahtay cafe in the Exchange.
- Artists must upload 1 jpeg of their work. If incomplete at time of registration, please indicate in entry form. The image must be:
- Straight on image, centered in the picture frame but not cropped in any way
- Labelled with artists’ last name.first initial
- No larger than 2MB
Returning Artwork
Art removal: All work must be picked up from Mahtay Cafe in the Exchange, Sunday September 29, 10am-3pm.
Any remaining work will become property of the City of Niagara Falls.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: Market Murals Live at the EXCHANGE
Call for Niagara Artists to paint: 7’ X 7’ mural, over 2 days, live @ $700 each inclusive of all supplies.

Details:
Niagara Artists are invited to paint live on a stand-alone mural structure that will be brought into the public space to be painted on one side over the course of two market days. Artists must agree to paint for 4 hours during the Saturday Farmers’ Market [8am-noon] and 3 hours during the following Wednesday Night Supper Market [4-7pm]. The work will then be complete. The art will be covered over by future artists who will use the same structure to paint on.
This will be indoors, rain or shine.

There are 2 forms to fill in.

- Live Market Mural Application is the 2nd
- 4 images from your portfolio of work that would illustrate your ability to fulfill the design brief.
- One written outline for their visual idea.
- Artists are allowed to team up with a collaborator if they so wish but may only paint one side.

Artists will be asked to outline their preferred month. We will endeavor to get your selected dates for you, but this is not guaranteed.

Details:
- Small, stand-alone mural
- Market Schedule: July to Sept 2024
- Location: Interior of the Exchange Market Hall.
- All artists selected must commit to creating their work on site at the Exchange during the market hours of both:
- Saturday 8am-12pm
- Wednesday 4-7pm
- Artists must provide a portfolio of at past works that would illustrate the intention of what they aim to create. We are not asking for any designs but request to see comparables and a written outline for their visual idea.
- The artists must use a tarp to protect the ground. All paint must be exterior grade, water-based and semi-gloss.
- Project Budget: $700 for 2 consecutive market appearances: Saturday Farmers Market and Wednesday Supper Market.
- Payment will be upon completion of 2nd Market painting day.
