Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a fantastic way to connect with neighbours, make new friends, and help make Niagara Falls a better place for everyone. Whether you're passionate about the environment, community events, or simply lending a helping hand, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Ask us about student volunteer hours!


 

Available positions

Our Adopt-A-Programs allow individuals, families, businesses, and community groups to actively maintain and beautify public spaces. By adopting a park, trail, walkway, hydrant, or street, you commit to cleaning up and helping to keep our city clean, green, and safe. It’s a rewarding way to contribute and see the positive impact of your efforts firsthand.

Are you interested in becoming a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor? We’re looking for enthusiastic youth ages 13 to 15 to assist our swim instructors during lessons.

This is a great way to gain experience, build your skills, and work toward teaching your own lessons in the future. To volunteer, you must have completed at least your Bronze Star or Bronze Medallion.

Join us for our annual Canada Day Celebration. Various volunteer duties are available.

Date: July 1, 2026
Times:  Various times between 8:15 am and 7:15 pm
Location: Firemen’s Park, 2275 Dorchester Road
Roles: Inflatable and games attendants, greeters, craft zone attendants (more details are on the online form)

Please take part in helping to keep our community clean!  You can volunteer during our scheduled clean-up events or choose our flexible anytime clean-up program to volunteer on any day you are available.

MYAC gives youth a voice in the community while creating exciting opportunities and events each year. We’re always looking for youth volunteers to jump in and help, and we welcome adult mentors to share their support and guidance. From community events to collaborations with partners like Project Share, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference.

The Niagara Falls Farmers’ Market will be looking for volunteers for the 2026 season.

Dates: Saturdays from May 23, 2026 to October 10, 2026
Duties: Help set up and tear down, assist vendors and keep track of attendance. The majority of the work takes place at the start and end of each shift.
Location
:

  • Niagara Square , 7155 Montrose Road (from May 23 to June 27)
  • MacBain Community Center, 7150 Montrose Road (from July 4 to October 10)

Time: Volunteers can work one shift, a few shifts or every week. Shifts are 6:15 am to 1:30 pm, rain or shine (the Market runs from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm)
Ages and other requirements: Volunteers must be 17 years of age or older and able to lift 40 to 50 pounds on occasion

Volunteer with the Niagara Falls Museums and the Niagara Falls Exchange, and help out with our free Thursday evening activities and other events such as exhibition openings, Family Day, March break, Niagara Night of Art, Drummond Hill cemetery tours and more.

Love meeting new people? Our Older Adult Programs are looking for friendly volunteers (ages 60+) to help out at our greeter’s desk. It’s a great way to stay active, connect with others, and be part of the fun at the MacBain Community Centre. 

Dates/times: Various opportunities available Monday to Friday.

How to apply: Stop by our Customer Service desk to fill out an application. Located at the MacBain Community Centre, 7150 Montrose Road.

We always need volunteers to help keep the outdoor rinks in great shape! If you live nearby and can shovel snow or flood the rink, we’d love your help.

Roles: Volunteers are needed for various roles, including mascot handlers, costumed characters, banner carriers, volunteer orientation, and more!
