Sports Wall of Fame

The Sports Wall of Fame honours those whose athletic achievements have brought pride to Niagara Falls. It also recognizes those who have dedicated their time, knowledge, and passion to creating a thriving sports community.

The Sports Wall of Fame is proudly displayed at the Gale Centre, 5152 Thorold Stone Road, in the foyer and the Sam Long Room. Visit us to see plaques that honour past inductees.

Who can be nominated?

We recognize individuals and teams who have excelled in sports through outstanding performance, leadership, or contributions to local athletics. Categories include:

  • Athletes – Individuals who have been outstanding in their athletic field
  • Teams – Groups of two or more athletes with remarkable accomplishments
  • Builders – Officials, referees, umpires, coaches, trainers and others who have significantly contributed to our community's sports development
  • Sponsors – A business, corporation, or group that has supported sports for at least five years

 

How to nominate

Know someone who deserves a place on the Sports Wall of Fame? Nominate them! Here’s how:

  1. Check the criteria – Review the qualifications in the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame Constitution
  2. Gather supporting information – Provide details about their achievements, including:
    • A written summary describing their activities and achievements. Include copies of newspaper articles and other documentation.
    • Proof to verify the information provided.
    • A clear, 5x7-inch photo of the nominee (black and white preferred). Additional photos or videos may be requested later
  3. Complete the online nomination form – Due by the first Friday in May

Rescheduled: Due to extreme cold temperatures and a forecasted winter storm, the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony originally scheduled for Sunday, January 25, has been postponed and will now take place on Sunday, February 1, at 2:00 pm at the Gale Centre, to ensure the safety of attendees, inductees, and staff.

The 2025 Sports Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony is open to the public and media.
