Internment rights and lot sales
When purchasing a burial lot, plot, or niche, you receive interment rights rather than land ownership. As the Interment Rights Holder, you must follow the Cemetery By-law regarding the installation of monuments, memorials, and flowerbed maintenance.
Transfers and refunds
- You may transfer, exchange, or sell back your unused interment rights at any time before a burial occurs
- If you cancel in writing within 30 days of signing the contract, you are eligible for a full refund. After 30 days, a refund is available minus the care and maintenance fees.
- The City of Niagara Falls has the first refusal right to repurchase unused lots, plots, or niches. An administration fee applies.
- All documents about the original sale must be returned to the Cemetery office
Payment terms
Interment Rights (lot sales) must be paid in full before burial and/or memorialization. Payment for a burial service (casket, cremation, niche, scatter) is due no later than the day of the service.
