On September 14, 2025 the Niagara Falls Barrelman Triathlon event will be taking place in the Chippawa area of Niagara Falls. The scale of the event requires the closure of certain roadways. As a result, Niagara River Parkway will be inaccessible from Macklem Street with the right turn lane on Weightman Bridge will be blocked to prevent vehicles encroaching onto the active event lane. Bridgewater Street will also be reduces to a single lane though access between at Main Street and Cummings Lane should be permitted.
The lanes on Portage Road between Burning Springs Hill and Marineland Parkway will be shifted to accommodate event participants whilst maintaining bi-directional travel for vehicles throughout the event. The intersection of Portage Road at Main Street at the Casino access will be closed to traffic. Alternately, Marineland Parkway and Stanley Avenue can be utilized to detour to the Casino area.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00AM and conclude at 5:00PM. Road closures will commence at approximately 7:00AM with roadways expected to reopen ay 7:00PM.
City of Niagara Falls staff encourage motorists to exercise caution when travelling in the vicinity of the event to ensure all road users as well as the Barrelman event participants are safe.
