![Title: Fireworks in Niagara Falls]()
Fireworks are a fun and exciting way to celebrate holidays and special occasions, such as Diwali, Victoria Day, and Canada Day.
To help everyone enjoy safely, the City of Niagara Falls Fireworks By-law outlines specific rules for when and where fireworks can be discharged.
When Fireworks Are Permitted
- Consumer fireworks may only be discharged in the City of Niagara Falls on specific holidays, including Diwali, between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
- Outside of these times, fireworks are not permitted unless you hold a valid Public Fireworks Display Permit issued by the Fire Chief.
Key Rules to Follow
These are the most important rules under the by-law and the ones most often reported to the Fire Department:
- Only discharge fireworks on private property and with the property owner’s permission.
- Never use fireworks in or over public spaces, including streets, sidewalks, parks, or parking lots.
- Keep fireworks away from buildings, vehicles, and overhead wires.
- Do not discharge fireworks in a way that could endanger, injure, or disturb others, including neighbours, pets, or wildlife.
- Avoid using fireworks when wind speeds exceed 20 km/h.
- Always clean up debris and make sure fireworks are fully extinguished before leaving the area.
- Fireworks are not allowed during a Fire Ban.
- Remember: Fireworks should only be handled by adults.
- Anyone under 18 must be directly supervised by someone aged 21 or older.
Respecting Your Community
The City of Niagara Falls recognizes that fireworks are often part of many cultural and national celebrations, including Diwali, Victoria Day, Canada Day, and other special occasions.
We encourage everyone to celebrate safely and respectfully, keeping in mind nearby homes, pets, and shared community spaces.
