The City of Niagara Falls continues to prioritize sustainability and climate resilience through investments in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and fleet upgrades. In alignment with the City's Climate Change Adaptation Plan, new electric vehicle chargers have been installed and made available to the public at the Wayne Thomson Building.

Additionally, fully electric vehicles have been introduced into the City's fleet. These vehicles are part of a pilot program that closely monitors their efficiency and fuel cost savings.

In September 2023, Niagara Falls City Council unanimously approved the Climate Change Adaptation Plan, which includes actions to improve the sustainability of transportation infrastructure. Since then, the City has taken steps to advance its commitment to transitioning to eco-friendly vehicles and expanding EV chargers. Level 2 chargers have been installed at the Wayne Thomson Building and The Niagara Falls Exchange in partnership with Alectra Energy Solutions, supported by federal funding through the NRCan Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP). Charging stations are also located in the City parking lot at Kitchener Street and Victoria Avenue.

This initiative represents a significant step towards achieving the City's long-term objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable transportation, and fostering a greener future for Niagara Falls.
