City of Niagara Falls opens community engagement on New Official Plan

Niagara Falls Official Plan banner

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls is developing a new Official Plan and is encouraging the community to share their ideas and priorities on how the City should grow. Titled, Our Niagara Falls Plan, the new Plan will provide a new long-term land use vision to 2051 that guides the City through a future of unprecedented growth while providing a high-quality living experience for residents and visitors from around the world.

Whether you are a long-term resident or a new one, a business owner or work in Niagara Falls, tell the City what you like about Niagara Falls and what you think is needed to make it better. This is a Plan to 2051 – you’re never too old or too young to have a vision for our City’s future!

Join the conversation through the following open engagement opportunities:

  • Take the Survey.
    • Tell us what makes you proud to live in Niagara Falls, where you enjoy spending your time, and what you'd like addressed in the new Official Plan.
    • Take the survey now. Survey closes on April 20, 2024.
  • Book a One-on-One Conversation.
    • Register for a 15-minute one-on-one telephone call or virtual meeting with Donna Hinde, the project manager for the new Official Plan. During the meeting, you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts on key issues and opportunities that should be explored in identifying policies for the Official Plan.
    • Book now. Times are available from 9am to 9pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
  • Apply to become a Youth Ambassador.
    • The City of Niagara Falls is looking for six (6) high school students to become Youth Ambassadors for the new Official Plan. The selected Youth Ambassadors will speak directly with their friends, neighbours and classmates to collect ideas on what they'd like to see from their City.
    • Training and resources are provided.  A commitment of a few hours a month from April to August is required. This work is eligible to meet community service hours requirements.
    • Interested youth can email [email protected] with a paragraph description on why you’d be a perfect Youth Ambassador for the Official Plan.

Official Plan engagement will continue in themed phases and discussion papers over the next few months. The public can have their say by taking surveys, attending upcoming open houses, or visiting a pop-up event - details to come.
