Sewer and Stormwater System Compliance
The City of Niagara Falls owns and operates its stormwater management and wastewater collection systems in accordance with regulations established by the Province of Ontario. To support transparency and regulatory compliance, the City prepares and publishes reports outlining the operation and performance of each system’s infrastructure.
Environmental compliance approvals
Environmental permissions, known as Consolidated Linear Infrastructure Environmental Compliance Approvals (CLI-ECA), are issued to the City by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). These approvals apply to all municipal stormwater management and wastewater collection systems, including any modifications/alterations to the system components.
Under the CLI-ECA framework, the City is required to prepare annual stormwater and wastewater performance reports and also make them publicly available. These reports illustrate the system’s operational performance and compliance.
