Flood Recovery Support

Following the heavy rainfall and flooding on August 2, 2026, the City of Niagara Falls has established a Flood Recovery Support Registry to assist eligible residents with flood cleanup and the disposal of flood-related waste.

What you should do first

If your property has been damaged by flooding:

  • Contact your insurance provider as soon as possible to begin the claims process
  • If it is safe to do so, document the damage with photos or videos before beginning cleanup
  • Register with the Flood Recovery Support Registry if you require flood debris disposal assistance or wish to be considered for any potential additional curbside collection that may be offered

Who is eligible and what support is available?

The Flood Recovery Support Registry is available to residential property owners and tenants within the City of Niagara Falls whose homes or properties were affected by the August 2, 2026 flooding.

Eligible residents who register through the Flood Recovery Support Registry may receive:

  • Waste drop-off passes for Niagara Region public waste depots
  • Consideration for an additional curbside collection of flood-related materials, should one be scheduled

Please note: The registration deadline for the scheduled curbside flood debris collection was 3:00 pm on August 7, 2026. Residents may continue to register until 3:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026 to be considered should an additional curbside collection be scheduled. An additional collection is not guaranteed. If another collection is approved, registered residents will be contacted directly.

Eligibility requirements

The Flood Recovery Support Registry is intended to assist eligible residential property owners and tenants whose homes or properties were affected by the August 2, 2026 flooding.

As this program is funded by the taxpayers of the City of Niagara Falls, residents registering for support will be required to confirm that:

  • They are the property owner or tenant of the affected property
  • Their property sustained flood damage as a result of the August 2, 2026 storm
  • They have filed an insurance claim, do not have insurance, or chose not to file a claim due to the limited nature of the damage
  • The services provided through this program will be used only for flood-related materials
  • They will provide supporting documentation if requested by the City of Niagara Falls to verify eligibility

The City of Niagara Falls may conduct audits to confirm eligibility. Providing false information or making false representations may result in fines.
