Fire Department
Our mission is to safely protect life, property, and the environment through education, prevention, and emergency response.
Firefighters are staffed 24 hours a day and are fully trained to:
- Respond and extinguish fires of various magnitudes, such as structure fires, kitchen fires, grass/brush fires, illegal burning, car fires, explosions and equipment fires
- Perform vehicle and equipment extrication involving trapped persons
- Perform water and ice rescue, confined space rescue, hazardous materials incidents, high-angle rope rescues, gorge rescue incidents, carbon monoxide detection, and fire safety inspections
- Give medical assistance such as first aid, CPR, oxygen, and ambulance assistance, and assist in transport of casualties
Our Communications Division uses a P25 radio system, which ensures reliable communication and future compatibility with other equipment. The division also has a backup server and center for seamless operation, can handle four 9-1-1 calls simultaneously, and supports Niagara Emergency Medical Services with direct dispatch integration.
