Due to a significant winter storm expected to continue through tonight, Environment Canada has issued an Orange Warning – Snowfall for Niagara Falls, with 20–35 cm of snow possible, reduced visibility, and blowing snow from wind gusts up to 50 km/h. Travel is expected to be hazardous.

To ensure public and staff safety, some City facilities will be closing early today.

Facility Closures - Sunday, January 25:

  • MacBain Community Centre: closing at 12:00 pm
  • Niagara Falls Exchange: closing at 12:00 pm
  • Chippawa Arena: closing at 2:00 pm
  • Gale Centre: All programming and regular services will close at 4:00 pm; however, the building will remain open as a warming centre until 11:00 pm
    • Please note that today’s 2:00 pm public skating session is cancelled
  • Niagara Falls Public Library: The Community Centre location will be closing at 12:00 pm, with all other locations closing at 3:00 pm

Roads and sidewalks will be difficult to navigate. Please avoid unnecessary travel and use extra caution if you must be out.
