NS&T Trail Renaming Ceremony to Recognize the Honourable Rob Nicholson

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls will host a ceremony to recognize the Honourable Rob Nicholson by renaming a section of the NS&T Trail (from Meadowvale Drive to Drummond Road) in his honour.

A long-standing resident of Niagara Falls, Mr. Nicholson has served in the Canadian Parliament for over 24 years, spanning four decades. The event will also celebrate the resurfacing of the trail from Kalar Road to Drummond Road, making the trail fully accessible for users.

  • What: Trail renaming ceremony recognizing the Honourable Rob Nicholson and celebrating resurfacing work along the NS&T Trail.
  • When: Thursday, November 13, at 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: NS&T Trail beside Meadowvale Park (7148 Briarwood Avenue).
    • Parking available along Briarwood Avenue. The ceremony will take place inside the park along the NS&T Trail.

    • Emcee: Aniko Bzdyl, Recreation Committee Chair
    • Remarks: Mayor Jim Diodati, Dr. Andrew Panko (President, Canadian Railway Historical Association of Niagara), Peter Nicholson, and the Honourable Rob Nicholson
  • Why: The NS&T Trail played a vital role in Niagara’s history as a key transportation corridor in the 1940s and 50s. The City resurfaced the section from Kalar Road to Drummond Road in 2025 as part of a multi-phase project to improve accessibility and trail quality. City Council passed a motion to rename this section in recognition of the Honourable Rob Nicholson’s decades of dedicated service to the residents of Niagara Falls.
