Niagara Falls to Mark 25th Anniversary of September 11 with Commemorative Ceremony

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls and Niagara Parks will commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, with a ceremony at the brink of Niagara Falls, on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The outdoor ceremony will begin at 8:15 a.m., with attendees encouraged to arrive at 8:00 a.m., at the plaza on the northeast side of Table Rock Centre, overlooking the Falls.

The ceremony will remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, honour the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other first responders who died responding to the attacks, and recognize the ongoing sacrifices and health impacts experienced by first responders in the years since.

As a border community, Niagara Falls shares a unique and enduring friendship with the United States. The ceremony will reflect on the bonds between Canada and the United States and the shared sense of loss, compassion and solidarity that emerged in the aftermath of September 11. It will also recognize the emergency personnel who continue to serve and protect our communities today.

The approximately 40-minute ceremony will include national anthems of Canada and the United States, a moment of silence and other commemorative elements, including a bagpipe performance of Amazing Grace. The moment of silence is anticipated at approximately 8:46 a.m., marking the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the ceremony. Members of the public are also welcome to attend.

• Conditions: The ceremony will take place outdoors. Attendees are asked to dress appropriately for the weather. Limited seating will be available, and attendees should be prepared to stand.

Niagara Falls illumination

As an additional tribute, Niagara Falls is scheduled to be illuminated in blue from 10:45 to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11.
