Niagara Falls Residents Encouraged to Join Fall Environmental Initiatives

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls and the Environmental Action Committee (EAC) are inviting residents to take part in two community-wide initiatives this October: the Community Curbside Giveaway and Fall Community Clean Up.
Both events offer simple ways for residents to reduce waste, care for the environment and help keep Niagara Falls clean.

Saturday, October 10: Community Curbside Giveaway
Give unwanted items a second life during the Community Curbside Giveaway, taking place from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., rain or shine.
Residents can place gently used items in good condition at the curb for neighbours and other community members to take for free. The event is an easy way to reuse household items, keep useful materials out of the landfill and help others find something they need.
- Clearly mark giveaway items with a “FREE” sign. Download one at niagarafalls.ca/curbside or create your own.
- Share photos of your items in the Curbside Giveaway Facebook Event to help others see what’s available.
- Remove any unclaimed items from the curb by 7:00 p.m. to avoid by-law violations.
A list of acceptable items, along with additional tips and information, is available at niagarafalls.ca/curbside.

Saturday, October 24: Fall Community Clean Up
Residents are also invited to roll up their sleeves for the Fall Community Clean Up from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Volunteers will meet at the MacBain Community Centre (7150 Montrose Road) before heading out to collect litter and debris from municipal parks, trails and boulevards throughout the community.
Families, friends, workplaces and community groups are encouraged to participate. The event is also an opportunity for students to earn community service hours while helping keep Niagara Falls clean.
- Register in advance at niagarafalls.ca/cleansweep. Walk-ins are also welcome.
- Gloves, safety vests, garbage bags and a limited number of litter pickers will be provided.
- Participants are encouraged to share photos from their cleanup and tag the City of Niagara Falls on social media.
