Free Events and Activities Planned for Seniors Month in Niagara Falls

June is Seniors Month

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The City of Niagara Falls is celebrating Seniors Month this June with a variety of free events, workshops, fitness activities, and community programs designed to recognize and support older adults throughout the community.

Residents aged 60 and older are invited to participate in activities focused on health, wellness, safety, lifelong learning, and active living.

Seniors Month Highlights

Age-Friendly Niagara Flag Raising

Kick off Seniors Month by joining the Seniors Advisory Committee for the Age-Friendly Niagara flag-raising ceremony.

Monday, June 1 | 2:00 p.m. | City Hall, 4310 Queen Street

Fire Chief for a Day Awards Ceremony

Celebrate local seniors who participated in the Fire Chief for a Day contest and learn practical home safety tips.

Tuesday, June 9 | 1:00 p.m. | MacBain Community Centre

Lightning Talks

Attend free presentations on topics including healthy aging, fraud prevention, fire safety, wills and powers of attorney, artificial intelligence, grief and loss, and the new South Niagara Hospital project.

June 17 and 18 | MacBain Community Centre

Active Living Expo

Connect with local organizations, service providers, and community resources that support healthy and active lifestyles for older adults.

Tuesday, June 23 | 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. | MacBain Community Centre

Stay Active All Month Long

Seniors can also take advantage of a variety of free recreational activities throughout June, including:

  • Public skating at the Gale Centre Arena
  • Zumba in the park
  • Line dancing
  • Tai Chi
  • Belly dancing
  • Ballroom dancing

In addition, the Niagara Parks Commission is offering seniors 50% off admission every Wednesday throughout June. For details, visit the Niagara Parks website.
