Street Sweeping

We roll out our street sweepers every spring to freshen up our roads after winter. These sweepers clear sand, dirt, and debris left behind by snow and ice, helping to keep our streets safe and our city looking its best.  While our equipment includes dust suppression filters, a little airborne dust is normal during the process.

How you can help

You play a big part in making street sweeping a success! Here's how you can help:

• Keep the gutters clear: Avoid sweeping debris into piles along the curb
• Keep it off the road: Refrain from sweeping driveway and sidewalk debris into the street. Moving roadside items such as basketball and hockey nets will enhance the effectiveness of the cleaning process.
• Stay alert: Use caution when driving near or passing street sweeping equipment
• Clear the way: Avoid parking on the street when sweepers are scheduled in your area

When to expect street sweepers

When spring is here, the City of Niagara Falls Street Sweeping program is underway! 

Street sweepers typically operate on weekdays between 6 am and 5 pm.
