Employment Lands Strategy
Learn how the City of Niagara Falls plans for enough land in the right places to support future jobs and business growth.
The City of Niagara Falls undertook an Employment Lands Strategy whose key objective was to assess the City’s long term employment land needs to the year 2051, while also considering the adequacy and marketability of the City’s shovel ready employment lands in the near term. The Strategy tried to ensure that the City had the right amount of developable employment land in the right location to meet forecasted industrial demand to 2051.
The Employment Lands Strategy approved by Council in December 2021, determined that the City would have an employment land shortfall of approximately 76 hectares (188 acres). Accordingly, the primary recommendation of the Strategy was to establish a new employment area in the Grassy Brook area to accommodate most of the City’s future industrial job growth.
