The Canadian Authors Association, Niagara Branch is an association of writers helping other writers in the art of composing and getting published their literary work. They provide monthly programsy between September and June and have an annual short story contest for fiction writers with the top 15 winners published in an anthology. Cash prize for First, Second and Third Place winners.

KAIROS Blanket Exercise

The KAIROS Blanket Exercise is a workshop that explores the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Blankets arranged on the floor represent land and participants are invited to step into the roles of First Nations, Inuit and later Metis peoples.

Phil Monture (Mohawk, from Six Nations of the Grand River) draws upon his experiences as the Director of Land Claims Research Office at the Six Nations of the Grand River reserve to share information and stories about current and past land claims issues. Specifically, Mr. Monture will highlight the issues surrounding the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations.
